*I gotta go stare at him and write it down. I'm playing my actual dog.*Personality:
Brody is a sweet soul. He is always looking for things to do to keep busy and loves to play with others. He often times doesn’t know his own strength and that gets him into trouble with smaller dogs. There isn’t much that gets him down unless someone he cares about is hurting or mad at him. Brody can be very sensitive for those he loves. Babies of all kinds are his favorite. There’s something about new life that mesmerizes him and sends him into a fatherly protective mode no matter who’s little ones they are. There is no doubt that he will stand between his loves and those trying to hurt them.History:
He’s never had his own pups because he wants to find someone to truly love. He believes in family and mating for life. His biggest fear isn’t pain, failing, not even death... It’s losing anyone he loves whether it’s from his own stupidity or to death. He lives his life for others and often times forgets to care for himself as much as he does the others, yet there is a side lurking in him that defies his very existence. A wild, reckless, killer lurks deep inside of him. He has no idea where it comes from… Maybe a long lost descendant passed it down from the time of the first dogs.
“I was born in late September. It was an unusually hot day in the little kennel that my mother birthed us. I could hear the muffled sounds of my litter-mates and other dogs in the distance. That day was a frightening experience. I went from my comfy squishy home into a noisy bustling kennel with hard floors and bright lights, but there was something familiar near to me. My little nose went into overdrive as my mommy’s sweet scent hit. I knew I was safe as I tried to get my floppy limbs to work and bring me to my first meal.Your Name: Shannyn
Those first days were filled with warm snuggles, wonderful meals, and mommy giving us all baths. My two brothers and one sister got annoying after a while. They were always pushing and shoving, making me lose some of my meals.
Then one day I could see! For some reason I was a favorite off the bat. I kept hearing “He’s the only one!” but it would be a while before I realized that I was the only one with blue eyes. My sister had one blue and one brown and the other boys had brown. I guess that makes me lucky?
Soon enough I was figuring out how to work those floppy things underneath me. I was so proud the day I walked from my mommy to our people and they told me how good I was. From then on you couldn’t have gotten me to sit still if you had tied me down. We went outside then and were able to play in the grass. They gave us toys and food that didn’t come from mommy. I even got to meet my daddy. He was huge! He made mommy look like a puppy herself. He was a brilliant white with the same eyes as me, where mommy was the same color as me with dark blue eyes.
That happy safe time was about to abruptly come to an end when some people came to see my mommy and us pups. 3 little boys took turns playing with us before picking me up and placing a collar on me. They hooked a long rope to it and said I was now theirs as they took some papers from my old people.
I learned to love them as I grew. They gave me a yard to play in, cats to chase, children to play with, toys, treats, food, and even a nice big basket of clothes to lie on. I was in heaven, but something was changing. I sensed something in the air. The woman was creating a new life. There was going to be a fourth child for me to play with and protect! Needless to say I was very excited. Then the man started packing things in a funny colored bag and some people came to the house and took everything. I was so confused. They said we were moving.
We arrived at a new home and settled in, but the man kept packing things. They said he was going on something called a deployment. Human functions are so weird. Right before he was getting ready to leave they took me to another house and left me with a tall, skinny man who took those same papers and handed him something green.
My days spent there were long and miserable. Sure he got me toys and food, but I spent all day in a wire room waiting on the small amount of attention I would get for a few minutes between his return and departure. Then one day he took pictures of me. I didn’t know why until I met my new mommy and daddy. The man put me and all of my things in the car. We stopped in a large parking lot and he shook hands with a woman and man. They handed him some green stuff and he handed them those same papers. I still wonder what they are.
When I met the woman I was scared. My old family got rid of me when she was full of life and this new woman had a new life growing inside of her. I thought I was going to be given away again, but she hugged me and called me her baby. The man let me in his car and told me I was a good boy.
We arrived at the new home and they showed me where my bed, food, and potty were. I got to sleep beside my new family that night. It was so comforting when my new mommy would wake up and pet me on her way to the bathroom.
My days were now spent with my new mommy getting loved on, treats, and going in and out of the house. She knew how to make me feel welcomed. My new daddy would come home every night and play with me until we were both panting. I felt alive again.
One day they left and I waited for hours. I was about to give up hope when dad came home to let me potty and eat. He told me I had a new sister. I spent two more days at home awaiting mom’s arrival. Dad checked in on me now and then. He smelled of new life. The fourth day I saw mom. She was carrying something and kept telling me to be gentle. It was my new sister dad had been talking about. I instantly felt protective over her. She was MY duty to keep safe. Every cry, or any other bodily sound I had to check on the squirming bundle. I snuggled her and gave her kisses as mom nursed her like my first mommy did me. I knew our family was complete.”

“They took me to the ocean one day during our outings. My sister watched and squealed at me as I splashed on the beach and swam. I loved making her smile so I kept going. I started overstepping my boundaries and before I knew it I couldn’t see her any longer. I had lost sight of my family and couldn’t hear them. I tried calling to them with no luck. Trying to catch their scent only left my nostrils burning with the salty mist of the waves that seemed to be growing out of nothing. I turned to see a giant wave and then… Then I dreamt of my family; My sweet sister crawling on her play mat, my mom cooking yummy things and dropping the extras for me, and my dad throwing my tows for me to chase and wrestling with me. I woke on the soft sand of a beach. My heart soared thinking that it was the beach I had swum out from, but this was a new land. I caught no scent of humans at all. Here I am now, deserted on a island with no one around me. I wonder if they miss me as much as I miss them.”

The dim light of dusk engulfed the trees as a soaked body lie near motionless on the sand. The shallow raise and fall of the rib cage was the only clue that this beast had life in him yet. Thick grey and white fur clung to the body while small waves lapped at the paws. Seaweed still clung to his tail and some of the neck where he had been brutally hammered with wave upon wave. Where had he come from? How long had he been out at sea? Would he make it?
An almost gasping sound escaped through the clenched fangs of the canine followed by a series of coughs and some water expelling as well. Breathing became more natural as his eyes opened. The ice blue radiating off the dark tones of his fur mask.
Looking around his expressions quickly went from joy complete with a wagging tail to the realization that he was alone and this wasn’t where he thought he was. The long tail of the brute had become slightly poofy due to the wagging that expelled the water, but when he dropped it in his dismay it became a soaked mess again. Slowly his legs made their way underneath of him as Brody tried to raise his torso.
After two failed attempts he was up. He started the slow and difficult task of moving his weary body to the grass where a bush casted odd shadows. I’ll curl up there for the night. The voice in his head relayed to his body as it buckled beside the bush and his eyes played games with him as the dreamlands crept over him; engulfing him whole.
