Dove!
From afar, all the Dalmatian mix had seen was shade. At this particular time of day, that was really all she was interested in. Despite her short coat, despite most of it being white and reflective of heat, the sun's rays still sunk straight through and made her rather uncomfortable. Panting, tongue lolling out of her mouth, Dove hurried across the hot sands towards the large structure that would give her a moment's peace and alleviate the discomfort caused by the sun's unrelenting strength. With longing, she glanced to one side, toward the glistening white waves that crashed and rolled against the shoreline, tempting her toward them, but she resisted. After the swim to the islands, and having to clean herself clear of clinging bits of sea salt, she was reluctant to immerse herself in the sea again. I'll find other water later. I just need to cool down.
Closer now, nearly there, she could see the grain of the wooden structure, make out an opening in the hull's side that was facing her where the large ship had been drawn ashore and taken on water, evident by the damage that lingered on the remnants of what she suspected to have been a grand vessel. Already her nose was quick at work, twitching as she breathed in the scents that it gave off: tarnished wood, sea water, and a few distinguishable canine scents. Some feet away, she paused, her lean body tense as she looked the ship over with attentive though nervous brown eyes, her ears trained forward and listening closely. The scents stale and the sounds being only those of the ocean, Dove suspected she might be safe for a short time if she needed a rest, which she felt she did. Silently, she came closer.
She stretched her nose out first to the hull of the ship, sniffing curiously at the water logged wood and taking in as much information about it as she could. Her mostly black colored head moved to one side, peering toward the large opening that revealed some of the ship's interior, but she didn't enter. The structure hardly seemed sound from the outside, and she wouldn't want to test its stability from within. Content with her current position, the spotted dog turned, setting her back to the ship, and sunk to her stomach, pink tongue lolling from her mouth again as she panted. The cool shade and sand were a blessing on her overheated paws, and her warm brown eyes became half lidded in contentment. Such a lovely place, she mused to herself, liking the small bit of protection the ship provided along this open stretch of shoreline. Despite her contentment, however, she was already thinking of things she would need shortly: food, water, and proper shelter.

It had been days, weeks, maybe even a month or two since Whisper had seen a beach. But she had finally had made a point to travel to this island. She used to come here when she was little, her nanny used to bring her here all the time. It was such a relaxing place, nothing to worry about, because there used to not be a dog pack here..or really any other creatures other than the natives. es and Being her age and ability, Whisper was able to make the slightly challenging journey here, but it was worth it. All the sites and smells, sounds and the beach's views made it all worth it.
The young Shepherd's paws lightly crunched through the sandy shore, sea shells and other beach items clogging up her toes. Paws now aching a bit, she decided to sit and rest, actually, she could go to the water and let it rinse out of her toes. Whisper padded down to the salt water, relaxing as the cold water touched her feet. I felt so good and relaxing, and the weather here was extremely warm, making Whis's pelt drag along with her down mood.
Whisper allowed to gentle waves to get higher on her as she walked along the beach, looking for someone or something to do. These days you couldn't be too careful though, Whisper had once met the love of her life near these parts...only to find that he disappeared weeks later. As the shepherd walked along alone, a faint smell of another dog faintly flooded her nose, and with that Whisper set off to find her.
