Trailing big circles, the young English Setter fem tried to raise up the courage to climb ever closer to the volcano. Each revolution brought her a few steps closer until she just came to a dead stop. Who was she kidding? Would she really be brave enough to climb to the top and look in? Looking up suddenly, the fem rushed forward headlong towards the top of the volcano. D.amn right she had the gumption to crawl to the top of the volcano. Nothing would stop Chokra. With every step she reminded herself that she was not some puppy any more instead she was a full grown dog with bravery enough for the whole pack. She hated to show weakness to herself and so instead she would prove her bravery once again to herself.
As she got closer to the rim, she slowed and came to a stop just inches away from the edge of the volcano. She looked down into the red abyss and was completely amazed by what she saw. THe swirling colors entranced her.

The top of the volcano. Vlad wasn't particularly sure why he was there, just that he was. Maybe it was the rumor that a rare, volcanic flower could be found near the volcano's apex. Maybe he wanted to find it, be sure it existed, pick it, and give it to his lovely Flower. She was the focus of his mind nowadays. She was his happiness, his love, his life. He didn't think about it, for the thought would be too painful, but if he was forced to think of a life without Flower, he wouldn't be sure what he would do without her. Maybe he'd still be near the surface of a volcano. Maybe he'd leave the Firestorm pack and set out on his own again. Maybe he'd sink back into a depression that he'd never work his way back out of.
Or maybe he'd just give up. There was obviously no rare volcano flower up here. Where had he even heard the idea? Oh yeah, eavesdropping. Maybe the other canines had known he was listening and purposely sent him on this wild goose chase. He bet that they had, bet that they got a kick out of tricking a fox, the most cunning of the canines.
And then there was a moment when he almost lost his footing. In that same moment, he saw a stranger, a dog. It was a fear-filled moment. One, because he could've slipped into the heated interior of the lava filled volcano, and two, because there was a dog. But he was in a pack now. He needed to try his best to not be afraid of every dog he met. Maybe she wouldn't be so bad. Maybe she was just hunting for a flower like he was. Or...
Maybe she was just up here to look into the lava that he'd just barely avoided slipping into. At least, that's what it appeared to be. Okay, he was okay. Right? Maybe. No. Not really. He still felt like crap. He'd wasted time away from his Flower to look for a flower that wasn't even there. He'd been fooled and seemed a fool. And he felt awful for it. So he walk, cautiously, toward the female. At least he thought it was a female, the scent of the volcano could have thrown off his scent of the other canine. He wouldn't get too close, fear and caution wouldn't let him, but he'd get close enough to be heard.

So intent on the movement of the lava inside the volcano, Chokra didn't hear the little fox come up. When he spoke, she swung up her head and saw him. For a moment, she just stared at him, letting the pieces of everything come back into focus. She really shouldn't let her mind wander so much. However, she wasn't worried by his appearance. Cho was likely to give everyone a fresh start. She never assumed that anyone was up to no good, not even the Foreigners. No instead she liked to take everyone on a case by case basis.
Slowly, she wagged her tail, backed a few feet from the edge, and then turned to greet the stranger. "Hello, yourself. I'm Chokra, hunter for Firestorm. And you are?" She tilted her head and put on her most friendly smile as she looked at the little black creature.

The movement of the large dog swinging its head to see him, and then just staring, managed to make him just a tad nervous. The nervousness tried to fade as the canine began a slow tail wag. He smiled a bit toward her as she backed away from the edge of the volcano, a type of apology for disrupting her. [red]"Vladamiir, Firestorm soldier. But I'm called Vlad for short."[/red]
He felt much better, relaxing a bit at the friendly smile and at the fact that they were in the same pack, his smile a bit more genuine now. That was a good thing after all, right? And how happy would Flower be to know that he had gained a friend within the pack? Oh, she'd be very happy, overjoyed, elated maybe. He pointed with his muzzle to the edge that Chokra had been standing. [red]"How is the view?"[/red]

Chokra smiled as he asked about the view. "Enchanting to say the least. Truthfully, I really don't know how to describe such things. I'm not really the poetic type." She slowly sat with her feathery tail slowly beginning to come to a stop. Chokra also didn't really know how to interact with others. If she came off too happy and flippant, people thought it was merely her just being a puppy and she wanted taken seriously. "How about you? What brings you out to things, beautiful yet frighteningly dangerous place?" Her eyes watched his face, though he was smiling she could tell that the little fox wasn't a hundred percent at ease with her, which worried her. After all, she'd never done anything to him and he didn't know her yet.

He nodded his head slowly, letting a slight gaze wander to the edge, but not really wanting to see the "enchanting" sight below. [red]"Poetry is a hard thing to master, though it flows freely and can have no rules."[/red] He watched as the female, Chokra, sat and followed her example. He listened to her question, and felt a little embarrased. [red]"Perhaps you know Flower?"[/red] His nose pointed to the ground before he looked up again. [red]"I was... hoping to find something for her... something like a flower that she couldn't see anywhere else."[/red] Yes, he was a soldier, but he could be a sensitive soldier, couldn't he?
Vlad shuffled a little bit, still adjusting to being in a pack, to being around dogs in general. This one seemed okay, but it was still difficult...
[red]"Perhaps you've seen something?"[/red]

Slowly Chokra shook her head. "I know nothing of a flower." She dipped her head slightly and listened intently as he spoke. Her ears flopped forward and her eyes never left his face. It was obvious that she was a dog that got little time to talk to others. Slowly, she rose as he spoke of a flower. Her mind retraced her steps up here, had she seen a flower at all. THough she might have not thought of it at first, thinking again of her trail up here she remembered slightly some flowers on a grassy knoll. Her tail whisked back and forth as she felt her heart leap. "I remember seeing some flowers before I came all the way up here. It's down towards the base of the volcano.

It was odd to be listened to so intently. Or really, to draw so much attention from a dog was just really not his style. He was a little disappointed when she said she didn't know about a flower, and it occurred to him that she might mean that she didn't know Flower. Which would make a little more sense. [red]"Flower is another fox in our pack."[/red] And he realized she may be the only other fox in the pack, making him that much more nervous of the idea overall.
He did his best to push the nervousness away, and he actually did a good job when Chokra said she knew of some flowers. It was a little upsetting to know that he might have passed them already without realizing they were what he was looking for, but at least he would find them. [red]"That's great news."[/red] Usually he'd try to put more emphasis on just how great of news that was, but he found the job difficult. But he did want Chokra to know that he honestly was happy to hear it, so he gave a smile. [red]"Would you mind leading the way?"[/red]
