The tiny, delicate fox stretched slowly, her long tail flicking into the air, and curling up over her head. She braced her hind legs in the sand, as her forepaws slid out from beneath her, as she stretched out her back, before rocking forward to lock her forelegs and stretch out her hindlegs. With a final twitch of her tail she moved towards the sleeping monkey that was nuzzled down into a bed of leaves and ferns. She slowly picked him up, nipping at his tail gently and lifting the sleeping monkey out of the bed before turning to place him onto her back. Immediately, the tiny monkey curled it's fists (both his hands and feet) into her long, white fur, it's tail curling around more hair to hold it in place. Flower rolled her eyes, although she smiled before turning away and bounding through the Island, intent on getting to the coral reef on one side of the island.
It had become a habit, for her to take off and head over there, watching the darkness turn the ugly coral into a vibrant display of colors. She slid to a stop at the edge of the surf, keeping just out of the water before laying down and letting Keanan, the monkey, curl up beside her, snuggling for warmth. The small action had a smile come to her face that fell slightly, wishing Vlad was with her for her to lean on. Just the mere thought of the handsome, black fox could make her day so much brighter. There was no denying it, Flower was very much in love with Vlad.
Regardless, she shook the thoughts away as she watched the sun sink below the horizon, and darkness slowly descend. The transition was gradual, the darker the sky, and world got, the brighter the coral became. After about an hour of this, the sky was completely dark and the coral was shining brightly beneath the water. Flower remained curled up, watching the fish swim around the glowing coral, a smile on her face, as she allowed herself to feel content in the moment. Calm, and content.

He still hadn't quite chosen his favorite spot. Well, actually he had. His favorite spot was anywhere that Flower was. And by default, where Keanan was. He was "Daddy" after all.
But he had wanted to do a bit of hunting, mostly for Flower, even if she could fish better than anyone else Vlad had ever known. Hunting had been the easy part. Sniffing the ground for trails. Some animals were obviously too big for a fox to take down, others had trails that were far too old. But Vlad had kept his nose to the ground, sniffing. Eventually he had found a plush little rat, just the right size for a little fox and her... whatever Keanan was. Either way, he trotted off with the catch, off to find his Flower.
Of course, that was easier said than done. His tiny Flower left a tiny trail, but one that was unmistakable to his nose. Keanan also had a unique smell, one that was very... not canine, and so he'd know either scent upon finding it. He remembered being with her, so peacefully, by the coast. It was the only reason he headed in that direction, but it was a reason nonetheless. Even if it had no substantial proof of that being her direction, he felt that it was where he would go. Especially in the heat. Being by the water's edge was always a good idea in the heat.
And so Vlad made his way along the coast. Remembering how Flower demonstrated her magnificent fishing skill, how Keanan had used his... whatever they were called... to pull the scales off of the fish. Remembered being with her there and the little snuggling moments...
And then he caught her scent, his ears perking up on top of his head in excitement. He walked a little further, and sure enough, there was Keanan's scent, too. Rat in teeth, Vlad picked up the pace, ready to see them. It was dark, yes, but that was okay. For one, he could see fairly well in the dark, and for two, the glowing coral provided enough light to see by, even if he hadn't been able to see.
He didn't want to scare her with his approach. She'd looked so happy where she was, and if she was happy, that meant Keanan was happy, too. [red]"Flower!"[/red] he called past the wad of flesh and fur in his mouth, before running to her.

The glowing coral was truly a sight to see, the way it gleamed and hued the world with it's wild, beautiful colors. Her own ivory pelt seemed to gleam with it's glow, as she watched the under water world glow into life. It was something else, watching the tropical fish, the under water vegetation, all of it in this exotic hued water. And it was a suitable distraction to keep her mind off her best friend, and soul mate. though, it wasn't perfect. Even now she was wondering what he was doing, as her muzzle moved delicately over Keanan's side, watching him with a smile. The young monkey was happily asleep, coiled up tight, it's tiny hands grasping her fur. Although, both she and the monkey perked up at the sound of the familiar voice calling her name. Her head snapped up, black eyes turning towards the black figure that ran towards her, as a smile lit her face. Keanan looked up, before making an odd sound and cuddling back up against her, content to let her and Vlad be awake, he was more interested in sleep. Flower didn't respond, though a smile hung onto her lips as he approached, running as quickly as possible it seemed, towards her. She shifted slightly, a welcome for him to lay down beside her, "Hello, Vlad . . ." She greeted warmly, looking up at him with a small smile, "It seems your timing is perfect once again. I was just hoping you'd come find us . . ." She turned back towards the water around them, smiling at the coral, "It's beautiful, is it not. The coral? It is almost . . magical." She said with delighted smile, clearly enjoying the glowing beauty.

Perfect timing, was that not what each fox needed to learn to find, to use, to notice? Yes, Vlad believed it was indeed a crucial part of a fox's life, and he was glad that he stumbled upon it repeatedly without really knowing that he did. But even though he was glad he had perfect timing, he was even moreso glad at the fact that Flower had been hoping he'd come here and find her. It was true, just being with her was one of the world's greatest joys. He lay beside her, placing the rat on the ground and giving the side of her muzzle a friendly little lick. He then turned to face the glowing coral that she clearly enjoyed seeing. His first thought was, not nearly as beautiful as you followed by a nod of his head. [red]"The beach is home to many beautiful things tonight."[/red]
Yes, the coral was beautiful in its range of hues and colors. It's magnificence was clear and it's exotic uniqueness could not be missed. But that was the beauty of another world. An underwater world in which the male fox could not live but only admire from afar. It was just something to observe until the light of day or the grip of sleep stole the sight away, and as much as he was glad that Flower enjoyed the magic of the sight, he would much rather enjoy the sight of his love, laying beside him, with the odd little kit snuggled close to her, odd paws latched onto her fur in his sleep.
(OOC: Sorry that this took so long and isn't really good. I'll do better next time.)

Flower smiled as Vlad lay down beside her, dropping the rat from his muzzle to lick hers. She nuzzled him back, her tiny nose pressing against his neck in greeting, before licking his fur, before following his gaze towards the coral once again, leaning against him slightly her tail coiling around her, and over Keanan slightly to keep the odd creature warm. The beach is home to many beautiful things tonight. She smiled slightly, looking up at him, before laying her muzzle on his legs, "Such as?" Her tone was slightly playfully curious even as she sighed in contentment and relaxed, "Is being part of a pack as scary as you had once though, Vlad?" She asked, looking up at him, truly wanting to know. She had been the one to ask him to join a pack, and she truly wanted to make sure that he was at least comfortable.
She watched the fish move, their scales reflecting the hues and colors of the coral, as she relaxed against Vlad, comfortable and happy to be close to him. She gently nudged Keanan closer to her, before flipping her tail over the tiny creature to hide the bright lights from him so he might sleep better, before looking up at Vlad and licking his muzzle, "It truly is a pretty sight . . . I almost hope to stay awake till morning just to watch it . . . though I doubt I will . . ." She stated with a tired yawn, as she cuddled closer to him, letting their body heat combine as she lowered her muzzle once more.

Vlad felt the cold, yet not unwelcome, touch of Flower's nose against his neck, and the moist tongue the licked his fur. He looked at the vixen's muzzle on his legs before smiling and looking back to the glowing coral. He'd drop his voice to just above a whisper, partly from embarrassment, partly to not disturb the quietness and mystical quality of the night. [red]"You're here tonight, and you're beautiful."[/red] He placed his nose against her neck, too, before moving to lick her ear. Her second question was a difficult one to answer, and he wasn't sure he was ready to. [red]"The pack..."[/red] Was unnerving. There were so many large canines there, some that looked like the wolves that had killed his mother. And there were a very large amount of them all in one place. Even though he had no reason to be upset by the pack, the memory of that night made it hard to just simply forgive and forget or even to just overlook. He couldn't say all that to Flower though, and so he went with the most honest answer that he could. [red]"I'll stay anywhere, as long as I'm with you."[/red] Well, it wasn't technically an answer, but it would take a little more time before he could think about the pack without correlating one set of dogs to another that he'd probably never meet again, hopefully never meet again.
And so he watched the fish as she did. The light that was reflected off the fish themselves almost made it look like it was the fish that were glowing, and the coral was just trying to absorb the rainbow hues that the fish gave off. The sight was calming, though, and he relaxed as Flower did her best to keep little Keanan comfortable. It truly is a pretty sight . . . Vlad nodded in agreement. I almost hope to stay awake till morning just to watch it . . . though I doubt I will . . ." |
[/s] He nuzzled the fur at her neck. [red]"If you stay awake the whole night through, you'll miss the chance to dream about the colors."[/red] He laid his head across her shoulders wondering if he himself was going to fall asleep or watch the glowing coral. Or the fish. Or perhaps he'd just sit and watch his Flower, sleeping peacefully beside him, little Keanan curled against her. What a peaceful night that would be.
